UAE police redlights on news types of narcotics

The police and security authorities in the country have successfully managed to curb traditional drug trafficking methods, including hiding inside human and animal bodies or smuggling them along with commercial goods.

Synthetic drugs are replacing traditional narcotics among traffickers, and the UAE is keeping pace with the developments in the world of manufacturing and promoting narcotic substances, officials have said.

The police and security authorities in the country have successfully managed to curb traditional drug trafficking methods, including hiding inside human and animal bodies or smuggling them along with commercial goods.

Now, the traffickers are trying to develop new methods, such as smuggling synthetic drugs.Top police officials said the cooperation and coordination between concerned authorities in the country had paid off and helped combat such methods of trafficking through ports.

Col Adel Ahmad Al Mazmi, acting head of the Criminal Laboratory Department of Sharjah Police, told Khaleej Times that the security agencies in the country are making great efforts to detect new methods of smuggling.
