Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority has announced official dates for Eid Al Fitr school holidays.
Schools in Dubai will be closed from Thursday, April 20 until Shawwal 3.
The first day of Shawwal will be announced on Thursday.
Dubai Eid school holidays
In a message on social media, the KHDA said: “Eid Mubarak Dubai! Eid break starts Thursday until 3rd of Shawwal. The first day of Shawwal will be announced in local media tomorrow. From the whole team at KHDA, we hope you have a wonderful break.”
The precise date of the first of Shawwal will depend on an announcement from the UAE moon-sighting committee.
The UAE moon-sighting committee has invited Muslims in the country to look out for crescent moon on Thursday night.
The moon-sighting committee says people should look out for the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Thursday evening, Ramadan 29, 1444 H, which corresponds to April 20, 2023.
Eid Al Fitr could fall on Saturday, April 22, according to the International Astronomy Centre.
However, the exact date will only be confirmed based on the moon sighting
