Tragic Loss in UAE: Newlywed Bride Dies in Car Crash Weeks After Wedding

Three weeks ago Reem Ibrahim, a  24-year-old newlywed woman was involved in a collision in Sharjah, Emirates Roads  that left her critically injured, resulting in extensive brain damage and a coma. A careless driver hit Reem’s car from behind at a high speed, causing the accident. Severe head injuries from the collision’s impact resulted in total brain damage. Early on August 31, this Emirati electrical engineer passed away from her wounds.

Just three weeks before the catastrophe, Reem was married and during the time of this tragedy, her close ones were still enjoying her new beginning. But unfortunately, Reem had to leave too soon due to a reckless driver. Her funeral ceremony took place in the same hall in Umm Al Quwain’s Falaj Al Mualla neighborhood where her wedding celebration was held, bringing a somber finish to what should have been the start of a happy journey. In Falaj Al Mualla Cemetery, she was laid to rest.

Reem was regarded by her family as a cherished daughter. Her mother and grandma in particular had been grieving continuously while her friends and spouse are in deep sorrow over the passing of this young lady who had a bright future ahead of her.

The Khaleej Times was informed by Reem’s uncle, Professor Dr. Humaid Al Shamsi, that “Reem is neither the first nor the last (casualty of reckless driving).”

Dr. Al Shamsi continued, “The pain of losing Reem is indescribable. Her dreams and our joy with her were stolen in an instant.”

Reem’s employer, Innovatech also, sent out their condolence note expressing their deep sadness and calling her “a model of giving and dedication in her work who left a great impact on all her colleagues.”

The incident has attracted a lot of concern from people across the region. Many in the community are advocating for greater awareness and more strict regulations to stop tragedies like this from happening on the roadways as they come to terms with this tragic loss. They also came together and contributed money for several charitable projects such as donating to orphanages, mosques, and water wells in Reem’s honor. In a matter of hours, the projects’ donation targets were met.

The memory of Reem will always be treasured, while her story serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of cautious and responsible driving.
