A standard medical screening test from health centers approved by UAE is a vital part of obtaining or renewing work permit or residence visas in UAE. But its not required when applying a visit visa or tourist visa. DHA has introduced The Medical Fitness System for Medical Services along with the Occupational Health Screening and Visa Related medical services. All the medical tets and screenings must be done with applicants presence and you can check and get the results via online. DHA Smart App can be downloaded to get your medical fitness report.
Necessary documents to be submitted during the medical test :
- Valid passport copy.
- Valid Residence Permit/Visa copy.
- 2 passport size photographs with white background.
- Valid Emirates ID copy (only for the renewal of residence visa)
- Copy of sponsor passport (in case of personal sponsor)
- Trade license (in case of sponsor company)
The following tests are done during the visa medical test :
If HIV (by testing their blood) ,Pulmonary tuberculosis (by taking an x-ray of their chest)tests are positive then you can’t get visa. But if it’s a dormant or pulmonary TB then you are medically fit and one-year ‘Health Fitness Certificate for Residence’ along with treatment and follow up by the Department of Preventive Medicine.
Workers in domestic, nurseries, saloons, beauty centers, health club must test negative for syphilis and Hepatitis B. And also female domestic workers must have pregnancy test negative. According to the new Cabinet Resolution renewal for all residence visas have to undergo TB screening.

How long does UAE medical result take?
The time it takes for the medical test result to be completed is determined by the service you select:
- The Normal option results will be ready in 48 hours,
- The Urgent option takes 24 hours,
- The VIP results will be ready in 4 to 5 hours.
What happens if UAE medical test fails?
An individual with a failed medical test in the UAE is denied a visa and is returned to their country, while someone with an existing visa renewal must be treated in the UAE.
